Reminder: Upcoming Annual Reporting for Attorneys

Beginning December 15, 2025, you will be able to file your annual CLE and Client Security reports. This year's fees remain the same as last year: a $25 CLE administrative fee, a $200 disciplinary system fee, and a $50 client security trust fund assessment. March 10, 2026, is the deadline to file the reports and pay the fees.

    Still need CLE hours?

If you have not yet attended enough CLE during 2025, you have until December 31, 2025, to finish those requirements. If you are unable to finish by then, you will need to request a CLE extension using the "File for Regular CLE Extension" function at your “My Account Lawyer” page. Extension requests should articulate the hardship or extenuating circumstances that prevented timely completion of the CLE requirements. Extensions are free if requested on or before January 15, 2026. After that they are $100.

If you find yourself short an hour of ethics, attorney wellness, or diversity and inclusion, check out the OPR Academy for free, on-demand programs that can help you meet your CLE requirements. For more information, scroll down to the “What’s New” section, below.

New well-being information for all Iowa attorneys

The Esquire Assistance Program (EAP) offers free, confidential support for all Iowa lawyers, judges, court reporters, and their families, regardless of membership in a bar association. Call 800-EAP-IOWA (800-327-4692) to reach a masters-level counselor 24/7. EAP’s services also include life coaching, financial counseling, and childcare/eldercare resources, among others. When you call, just let them know you are an Iowa lawyer, court reporter, or family member.

If you would value assistance with a legal peer, the Iowa Lawyer Assistance Program (ILAP) can help. Call 515-277-3817 or email ILAP Executive Director and attorney Joe Quinn ([email protected]). Both EAP and ILAP’s services are completely confidential.

Law practice can feel overwhelming. If you or someone close to you feels suicidal, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, at any time.
